The Nyon brand comes from the historic Swiss city on the shores of Lake Geneva. Being based there, and not in a remote village, meant the brand had direct access to Geneva's best case and dial artisans. It was a brand that directly drew inspiration from the aesthetics of brands like Patek Philippe or Cartier, which were located just a few kilometers away. This model is clearly inspired by the "Cartier Ceinture Style" with an octagonal case.
Nyon was one of the hundreds of brands that succumbed to the "Quartz Crisis" in the late 70s/early 80s. As they were small-production and highly artisanal brands, they couldn't compete with the cheap digital watches coming from Japan...
