Founded in 1903 in the heart of Swiss watchmaking, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Ogival was born from René Brandt’s passion for advanced engineering. While many Swiss houses focused solely on dress watches, Ogival carved its name into history by conquering the extremes. In 1958, the brand gained international acclaim when its timepieces were chosen for the demanding French expedition to the Coume Ouarnède caves, proving their exceptional water resistance and reliability in total darkness and 100% humidity.
Symbolism & Design: The iconic "Jumping Fish" (Carp) emblem is more than a logo—it is a bridge between European precision and Eastern philosophy. Chosen as a symbol of perseverance, love, and good fortune, it turned Ogival into a prestigious "gift of honor" in the Asian markets during the mid-20th century, making vintage pieces like this one highly sought after for their unique cultural cross-over.
