Candino was founded in 1947 in Herbetswil, Switzerland, by Adolf Flury-Hug and quickly became known for robust, affordable Swiss Made automatics. In the late 60s and early 70s, Candino celebrated its Golden Anniversary - 25 years - with a special line of futuristic TV-screen / UFO cases, a design that defined the early 70s. Now part of the Festina Group, Candino still produces Swiss Made watches today. This Golden Anniversary Day-Date is a perfect example of 70s Swiss design: massive brushed cushion case, black onyx markers and an ETA automatic - offered here as NOS, unworn, with its original strap and tags.

o Screw-down / press-fit caseback engraved "STAINLESS STEEL - SWISS MADE - WATERPROOF - AUTOMATIC - INCABLOC - ANTIMAGNETIC - 26903"
o Dimensions: 36mm width / 41mm lug to lug / 11mm thickness / 20mm lug width - very modern size for a 70s watch
o Original signed crown at 3 o'clock
o Acrylic crystal - NOS but with light storage marks / small chips at 9 o'clock position as seen in photos - common for watches stored in drawers without proper care
MOVEMENT:
o Swiss Made Automatic ETA 2638 - 25 Jewels - Day (Italian) -Date - Marked "WEGA - 25 JEWELS SWISS MADE" on rotor - Wega was a sister brand that used same ETA ebauches
o In working condition - We rarely do service in order to preserve originality as much as possible.
o date can be setting between 9 and 12o’clock
DIAL & HANDS:
o Original untouched silver sunburst dial
o Applied black onyx square markers with luminous dots, original baton hands
BRACELET / STRAP:
o Original NOS Candino signed black lizard-pattern strap - marked "CANDINO" inside

A true 70s time capsule!
